This full day event proposes to discuss child protection in schools reviewing legal and social frameworks and policies from both French and international perspectives with an outlook on safer recruitment practices. Guest speakers include Colin Bell, CEO of Council of British International Schools-COBIS, Marie-Paule Martin-Blachais, Managing Director of the French National Public Agency on Child Protection Policy and former President of Child in Europe, Violaine Blain, Director of SNATED 199.

Child Protection and Safer Recruitment in International Schools

Member of the recently formed COBIS Task Force on Child Protection which is committed to reducing risk to children, young people and wider school communities worldwide, Colin Bell proposes to share knowledge and best practice on Child protection and the implementation of safer recruitment practices within international schools in an informational and discussion-led session.

Representing over 400 high quality British international schools and commercial supporting members in more than 70 countries worldwide, Colin has been the CEO of COBIS for five years, leading the organisation through significant growth. Colin holds many complimentary advisory positions including; Governing Board member of the Geneva English School in Switzerland, Director of the UK Independent Schools Teacher Induction Panel, Member of the International Task Force on Child Protection and Editorial Board member for the British International Schools and World Student magazine.
General Framework of Child Protection in France

Marie Paule Martin-Blachais, Violaine Blain and Nora Darani will give delegates an overview of SOS Enfant en Danger, discuss a holistic approach to Child Protection in France and explain the legal system in France and how it supports organisations with Child Protection: how the agencies work in France, the process from when they get the first call, statistics about how many incidents they deal with etc…Participants will be given documentation to take away.
Marie-Paule Martin-Blachais

Marie-Paule Martin-Blachais, Doctor of Medicine, has received complementary training in infant psychopathology and family therapy. She has worked in the fields of paediatrics, prevention and public health, and finally child protection. Since 2009 she has been General Director of the Public interest grouping on children in danger (GIP Enfance en Danger, GIPED), which oversees an emergency helpline (119) and the National observatory of children in danger (ONED). The latter institution is in charge of compiling statistical data and submitting a yearly report to Government and Parliament. She was president of ChildOnEurope from 2011- 2014.
