Don’t miss out on a unique opportunity to attend high standard workshops run by renown speakers and to share experiences with a network of teachers from international and bilingual programs nationwide.

 'The Languages of Learning’

This year's TDD will focus on the languages of learning, taking the term of language in its broadest sense. Beyond the usual definition of language and languages, there exists the additional meaning of any method of communicating ideas, including various systems of signs, symbols, gestures and the like.  Art, drama, music, science, information technology, history, and literature all have their languages, which are used in their learning.  Language operates in thinking and writing and debating and story-telling, and in many other related activities. Brain research has revealed much about language and the mind,  of use to us in educational practice. Sessions dealing with all these subjects and more are to be found in the TDD 2010 program.

Among novelties this year, a welcome speech delivered by president Donna Philip including a brief introduction of the sessions and speakers. For attendees to take full advantage of speakers this year the Committee has asked each to run two sessions and has extended workshop time.  Science and History teachers will be pleased to choose from full streams. ELSA has invited 7 speakers from abroad and extends particular thanks to speakers from member schools again generously offering to share their knowledge and experience.

The slate of exhibitors is varied with new companies including Hi London, Folens Education, the American Library of Paris and returning Hodder Education, Collins, Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Pearson Education, Scholastic. Negotiations are still underway with Follett International, Step1 books and others.

As usual, attendees and speakers are provided with box lunch and coffee. The day will close with the traditional reception and prize draw.

Kindly communicate the attached program and session descriptions to your teaching staff. Do not hesitate to communicate the program to any educator who might have an interest in registering for the event. We accept non-member and individual registrations.  The deadline for registrations is March 2nd 2010.

We look forward to a great event and hope many of you will join us for the day.

Yours sincerely,

Donna Philip
